Case study · Third-person zombie shooter · iPhone, iPad & Mac
Nightcure
A story-driven shooter where some of the dead can still be saved, built once and shipped to iPhone, iPad and Mac.
The challenge
A console-style third-person shooter has to run well on a phone, feel right with touch controls, and also play naturally on a Mac with a keyboard and mouse or a game controller, without maintaining three games.
What we built
- One Unity project (Universal Render Pipeline) shipping to iPhone, iPad and Apple silicon Macs.
- A single input map for touch, keyboard and mouse, and game controllers.
- A cure-or-kill mechanic: infected neighbors marked in cyan must be cured with the Cure Pistol and escorted to the rescue camp.
- A moonlit hometown lit by street lamps, a campfire and the flashlight on your gun, with a story about finding your family.
- Game Center leaderboards and achievements, and an adjustable blood setting (Realistic, Reduced or Off).
Technology
- Unity
- URP
- Game Center
- Touch, keyboard & controller input
The result
Coming soon to the App Store for iPhone, iPad and Mac, with no ads and no tracking.
